Sometimes

Sometimes when you have been cleaning

the house and taking care of babies

and trying to get everything organized 

for family pictures, all day

and you really need a shower,

because its literally 5 o'clock in the evening

but then your little one comes up to you, 

with his big blue eyes going cross eyed while he

gives you eskimo "escalator" kisses,

and is begging you to come play outside and do

sidewalk chalk.

You do it.

Because, really, it melts your heart.

Especially the cross-eyed part.
